Raspberry Pi Training is an event with no cost to you, is being held on Saturday’s and being written and run By Kevin Ackland.
**New** We are holding our first ever Raspberry Pi Training course at our shop in Witney on 25th March 2017.
Please register your interest as spaces will be limited and will be on a first come first served basis. The last 8 training sessions on Windows 10 were full up within 4 days of being announced. This course is more specialised and more technical so we do not expect that uptake but we know from our research that it will be over booked.
There is no charge for this event.
Our shop where the training is held looks nothing like this!
The Raspberry Pi is an amazing computer that costs just £30 and is the size of a credit card.
I can run quite a few operating system but by far the best is the open source Linux operating system called Debian.
I have been using Debian for years and when I started I struggled to find guides to help me install Linux.
As far as I could see there were no training courses available.
I am fascinated with computer systems and the Raspberry Pi had so many applications that it was difficult to know which type of application to demonstrate the use of the Pi.
I quickly got the installation of a Raspberry Pi down to an instruction checklist that I could teach pretty much anyone to follow.
That is exactly what our course will achieve. By the end of the course you will know how to install Debian onto a Raspberry Pi. That will mean that you could use the Pi to go onto the Internet and run all the programs that you would expect like email and word processing. All of the software is FREE to use. What we then do is to install a fully fledged web server and relational database, a scripting language and finally WordPress itself. That would all be good but the really tricky bit is to buy an internet domain name and “point” it to your Raspberry Pi in your house.
Do you know someone who is interested?
They could be a teenager trying to get into computers, they maybe using a Raspberry Pi at school or college. You could just have an interest in computers and would like to take your interest further. You maybe a technical support person that know Windows but doesn’t know Linux.
The best place to learn those skills is by attending our Raspberry Pi training at our computer shop in Witney. The course will be run by Kevin Ackland.
Why are we doing this, why provide Raspberry Pi training FREE of charge?
I love this subject and don’t feel a need to charge for it.
Getting people in my shop even for course has always enhanced my business. One of my competitors recently said to a customer “We don’t do that, the only person that I know will be able to help you is Kevin Ackland at Systems and Solutions”. That kind of a reputation is what I want.
I may just meet someone on the course that I want to employ in the future. You never know who you might meet.
This is not going to cost me anything but my time.
I am also giving some refreshments. I couldn’t think of any thing else that I should server other than a piece of Raspberry Pie and a drink – either a soft drink or tea / coffee.
This training is better than an online training course because it is hands on, it’s over the shoulder. We can stop and explain the steps and why we are doing them.
